Wesley Sneijder Wanted Ibrahim Afellay to Join Inter

Inter attacking midfielder Wesley Sneijder is not happy as his club could not sign emerging Dutch player Ibrahim Afellay who till now used to play for PSV.

Attacking midfielder Afellay is close to joining Barcelona. The two clubs had an agreement over the issue. A transfer fee of about €3 million was reached earlier in this month only. There are indications that the deal will be a long term one which he may sign in coming weeks.

Sneijder believes Ibrahim would have suited the conditions at Inter as he has qualities to become popular there.

He remarked, “I’ve told Inter that Ibrahim would be the perfect player for us and I’ve also told ‘Ibi’ that he would flourish at Inter. He has the qualities to become a huge star in Serie A. Unfortunately, Inter decided not to listen to me and didn’t make a move for Afellay.”

Sneijder is not the only one who wanted Afellay to join their team. Arsenal striker Robin van Persie had also expressed his desire that the players sign with his team as he rates him quite high.
