A Seven Year Old Briton given A Gun License

London: According to media report a seven-year-old child in Britain has been issued with a license of a shotgun.
The seven-year-old was given a license for clay pigeon shooting. But the license also agreed on the fact that he must be supervised by his father during the use of the gun. The child was given the licence by Gloucestershire police, while West Mercia police permitted one license for an eight year child.
The media reports came on the basis of figure released under the Freedom of Information Act. Newspaper The Sun reported about granting of license to 13 children all below 10 years of old.
These licenses were issued between the span of 2 years i.e. 2008 to 2010. The data was acquired from 51 armed forces in the country. It revealed that about 7,071 licenses were granted to citizens under 18.
However, now police chiefs has asked for fixed minimum age. The specific age for shooting with firearms should be at least of 10 years.
